Sierra Benford

Biography

Hello! My name is Sierra Benford. I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and I currently live in Muncie, Indiana with my amazing husband of 6 years and two children; Elijah, who is 5-years-old and Ellie Grace, who is 8-months-old.

I graduated from Ball State University in 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism.

During my time at Ball State, I volunteered hundreds of hours to after-school programs, Muncie Community School classrooms, cheerleading coaching, tutoring, mentorship and more.

Once I graduated, I worked in the entertainment news industry for a while, although, my passion began to resurface in other places.

In 2019, I was placed as the Nursery Ministry Director at my church. It was then that I realized what I was called to do and what I had grown to love-- teaching and learning with children.

Through my time studying Early Childhood Education, I have grown an interest in curriculum development, learning styles and positive guidance.

My dream is to open a preschool and offer quality experiences and resources to make my programs beneficial, affordable and safe for students and their families.

The youth population that I served thus far has consisted of mostly low-income families and children. I hold a special place in my heart for those children because I was one of those children. Being able to offer quality care at an affordable price is very important to me. 

The type of teacher that I am striving to become, is one that advocates for low-income families, teaches equality and diversity and gives parents the access to high-quality and affordable early learning programs.
